WILD LIFE IN THE GAMBIA

A Safari To See It All

Wildlife of the Gambia is dictated by several habitat zones over its total land area of about 10,000 km2.  It is bound in the south by the savanna and on the north by the Sudanian woodlands.  The habitats host abundant indigenous plants and animals, in addition to migrant species and newly planted species.  They vary widely and consist of the marine system, coastal zone, estuary with mangrove vegetation coupled with Banto Faros (barren hypersaline flats), river banks with brackish and fresh water zones, swamps covered with forests and many wetlands.

A perfect and clear day, a sunny weather with a temperature of 21oC. A safari is all i could think of.

Driving in the wild with  Rhino, Zebras, Giraffes, Antelopes to name a few is a very nice experience not to mention a walk with the lions and playing with its cubs.

Imagine the feeling, been few steps away frome animals you have only seen on a discovery chanel or in a zoo somewhere.

A swim at one of the beaches at the end of a safari can't be any better.

How else could i have end my day, if not with a cold naturel fruit drink with health benefits.
A tasty meal with all its ingredients locally grown (fresh food stock).

As i watch the most beautiful sun set ever.

My next Blog will be on the over 560 species of birds that find a sanctuary in the country's (The Gambia) eco-system.
